Nice, cute, but nothing spectacular

by travelbloggist

My wife and I are travel agents in Atlanta and because of Savannah's proximity, we visit alot and also hold ourselves to trying out as many tours, restaurants, hotels, attractions as humanly possible because we want to know what we're talking about when pushing Savannah as a destination. Frankly we've done a ton of ghost tours in Savannah and if we had to name a top 5(out of 2 dozen or so), we would place Ghost Talk Ghost Walk somewhere within that Top 5, albeit the gap between our Top 3 & the last 2 in that top 5 would be fairly broad. People obviously have different considerations for different tours. If you're only holding a standard of cheapest, fastest and the most tolerable, well this one would be the top of the heap. The customer service was as good as can be, but the tour itself was what you might expect in a tourist town. No shortage of customers. Probably 30 people or more & obviously appealing to alot of parents and their children. The tour guide was okay and the storytelling sweet and simple but lacked in the dimension of "dark" or "scary". I mean I'm sure little kids were left up all night, but if this had been a movie that I'd paid for(and for relatively the same kind of fee), I would tell friends to maybe "rent it." Simply I couldn't find too many faults with this tour, but yet I would look harder for something better. Afterall it is advertising itself as a ghost tour and I thought this meant my attention would be held for longer.

  • Pros: Cute, sweet, simple
  • Cons: Not especially entertaining or scary.

Popular walking tour exposes the ghosts of downtown Savannah.

by Contributor

Overview
While visiting "the most haunted city in America," you're all but required to take in a ghost tour. "Ghost Talk Ghost Walk" guides you through Savannah's historic district on foot, revealing the famous legends of this mysterious town. The stories you'll hear are based on Margaret DeBolt's book, "Savannah Specters and Other Strange Tales." Guides are knowledgeable and entertaining, adding personal anecdotes and humor to the spooky accounts.

The Experience
The Hampton Lillibridge House, supposedly Savannah's most haunted, inspired the last contemporary exorcism in America and vies for the most interesting stop on the tour. Another favorite is the 17 Hundred 90 Inn, where you'll hear a racy story not found in most guidebooks. The tour also takes you by the Olde Pink House, the Pirates' House, Colonial Park Cemetery and the home of the "Counting Ghost," a lesser known, but equally fascinating, Savannah resident.
