best on river street.
i've eaten at many of the restaurants on river street, but the only one i've gone back to over and over is vic's. their menu is surprisingly inventive and when the food arrives to the table, its better than expected. i've never had a bad experience with the staff - always fast & friendly.

Nice atmosphere, however, the food quality was below average..
My family and I were there just a couple weeks ago and the restaurant had been recommended to us....the decor is very nice and we were excited about the atmosphere. And, they have delicious biscuits. However, that's where it ended. 3 of the 4 dishes were below average: a steak ordered medium came out completely rare; a meatloaf order came out FROZEN in the center; and the 'double cut pork chop' ended up being two little pork chops covered by a fruit sauce with seeds the size of dimes in it (that couldn't be chewed and the sauce had to be scraped off). Our waiter was nice, however, he made frequent mistakes. For the price of the meal, we expected better quality food and better service.

Great food! Excellent service!.
My husband and I went down to Vic's on July 4th. I was a little leary because the firewords were on the river the same night. The restaurant was packed, but all of the staff we encountered handled everything so smoothly you would have never known anything was going on. Our food was excellent and we were amazed at how quickly they got it out to us considering how many people were in the restaurant. We would definitely go back the next time we are in Savannah.

Great food for a reasonable price! One of the few great spots found!.
With our vacation coming to an end, we were looking for a nice place to have lunch and perhaps give us hope about the Savannah cuisine. Everyplace we had looked at was either bland food or terribly overpriced. We stopped by Vic's and to our discovery, the restaurant was beautiful. Being on the 4th floor on River Street, it had an amazing view, pleasant piano music in the background, and beautiful decor. We were welcomed by a nice server who took our order and immediately brought out buttermilk biscuits with honey butter. Delicious! I ordered the shrimp and grits with tasso ham gravy and my significant other had the meatloaf sandwich with mac&cheese. From a culinary professionals opinion, we were very satisfied. My dish was perfect and hers reminded us both of what southern food is all about: comfort. We enjoyed our experience at Vic's all for under $25. It was just relaxing to find a great Savannah restaurant on our final day. I would not hesitate to dine there again. For anyone looking for the heart of Savannah and great food with a view, look no further than Vic's on the River!
