We met with the couple, and walked from the parking lot behind the restaurant. As we passed by the back door, there appeared to be a meeting of the staff by the dumpster cooks and waitress alike. Cigarettes in hand, and not a care in the world, as we passed by. I could only hope they washed up! The other couple we were with seemed embarrassed, however we had a reservation. This was early seating, as we had a show to attend, and wanted to eat quickly. Our server finally showed up from her 'meeting', and went into what can only be considered a dissertation about where the food was procured. We ordered a cheese plate for the 4 of us, the cheese seemed old around the corners, and this is not the casing I am speaking of. The salads were alright, but lacked any sort of imagination, as the ladies were not impressed. Our dinners were served, finally. I can tell you that there was no innovation in these as well. Chicken with bacon wrapped around it, with the worst tasting risotto. My overcooked $30 steak. The rubbery shrimp with yet another horrible squash risotto. The fettucini, which was the blandest of them all, was supposed to be the vegetarian dish for my wife. It turned into a contest of who had the worst entree, and I won. Needless to say, we skipped another presentation of how the dessert is made 'in house', and got the check. I felt bad as my friend paid the bill, but he felt obligated since this place was his suggestion.
Awesome food!.
So many restaurants focus on stuff that is not important. But at Cha Bella, quality shines through. Every time I've dined here, I leave feeling satisfied and having had an awesome diner. The ingredients and the creativity with which they have put together their meals amazes me. It's worth every penny! (the service is superb too!)
Favorites: Scampi appetizer, Tuna, Steak, Goat Cheese Cheese cake.
honeymoon in the south. This came highly recommended by people living in Savannah, not just the hotel. Great place. Food was wonderful, the small wine list was a refreshing change about 50 bottle, but not overpriced. Service was professional and attentive. We were in late night on Tuesday, so it wasn't crowed. But I bet it can be. We visited 10 days in Savannah, Hilton Head and Charleston. This was only one of two restaurants that acknowledged our honeymoon. Very highly recommended.
AMAZING!. I read the other review for this restaurant... I had a very different experience. I have been there at least 3 times since the other review was written, and have always had great service and been very pleased with the food from appetizers to salads to pastas to entrees. I would say this is definitely one of the best restaurants in all of Savannah from food to ambiance to service.
Bad food, bad service, just plain bad! Avoid at all costs!. This is the poorest excuse for fine dinning we've ever expirienced. The wine list is a joke, as is the menu. The staff is unattentive and distracted. The food, if one could call it such, was ghastly. No taste. The presentation looked as if someone had staged a demolition derby on the plate. Organic? Hah, yeah right! Save your money and your palate, go someplace that actually cares about the customer, the food, and the ambiance, not about selling an image.
Hospitality at its BEST!. From Atmosphere to food quality to service everything was outstanding.
Great piano bar/restaurant. This place is reminiscent of a piano bar in NYC, except that the food is upscale Southern cuisine. The chef usually prepares specials everyday. One night he concocted a grapefruit vodka sorbet - yum yum!!! The staff make you feel very special. And the piano bar music is usually superb. It is located in the Historic District and convenient to hotels and the locals. It is brightly painted and lowly lit by a different chandelier in each room. YOU GOTTA GO!!!
