Great Romantic Restaurant - make a reservation. Got there late on a Saturday night in June 08 without a reservation. The hostess and wait staff were very accomodating. They sat us in the lounge area because even the bar was packed with dinners with reservations. They provided excellant service of drinks and appetizers during our 30 minute wait for a table. Once seated my husband had a steak which he still raves about that was cooked to perfection. I had a seafood risotto with butter beans that melted in my mouth. It's pricey but I believe you get what you pay for. It was well worth the cost for a great dining experience in a unique underground setting. Check it out if you're in the area. The restaurant was full with large parties celebrating weddings and graduations, so indeed it is a special place to share with special people.

Food is great! Price is too high!. They were hosting a big party but they put together a private table for us by the fire place on the couch and lounge chairs. It really made of a charming relaxed feel. I was with clients and it turned out much better than expected. The wait staff was very nice and very accomodating. Eddie recommeded some items for us to share, salad and appetizer. We were so full that we decided to split up our meal. There is a $10 plate charge but they load it up with extra food. When they brought out the food it was just a big as a full portion so we were glad that we asked to split it up. When the bill came out it was well over $200 for the 4 of us. The food was excellent, love the croutons made out of grits. It is a great place for the atmophere but I feel that is just prices a little bit too high. I will go back and continue to recommend it to friends.

Do not dine at Alligator Soul. I dined at Alligator Soul on May 8, 2007 with 3 other guests. I ordered Eddie's Special Steak at $55 and it was tough and full of grizzle. I sent it back and did not order anything further. I was charged full price for the steak I could not eat and when I questioned this was told they would take $20 off, . again what I could not eat. I sent an email to the restaurant and as of May 29 have heard nothing. I have dined there before and have recommended it to many of my out of town friends and business colleagues. I am no long recommending this establishment to anyone due to lack of customer service and response to my email. There are too many good restaurants in Savannah.
