Horrible Management and service, great atmosphere and deck.
We arrived at 5:45 and immediately were able to sit on the deck with a party of eight, (point being, they were not very busy) it was after 8 when we left. I decided to go in to the hostess stand to see how long it would be to get a table on the outside deck since we had such a large party. The waiter happened to be standing there and he told us that one table had already paid and the other was finishing up and they would put those tables together and it would be about 15 or 20 minutes. The hostess however was very rude and her nose was stuck to far up in the air it wasn't funny, She had that " I'm better then you attitude from the beginning". Anyway, I got my beeper and went back out to visit with my son and his family. We were talking and having a great time, not paying any attention to the time, About 45 minutes later I went to check on our table. The rude hostess said someone that was seated inside, got up and moved outside when that table opened. Rather then tell that customer that the table was being held for another customer, she did nothing, not even bother to tell me what happened and give me the option of being seated inside. At this point I told her I wanted to be seated inside immediately since we had now been waiting over an hour and there were plenty of tables available. There was a table for eight ready right in front of me and she sat another party who had just walked in at that table. When I asked to speak to the manger, He wouldn't even give me a chance to tell him what happened. He didn't apologize or anything, only said that he understood my frustation, I DON'T THINK SO!!! I hope the owner of Tubby's reads these reviews and does something with these rude and ignorant employees. If not, even with the great atmosphere and average food I don't see how they can stay in business. You couldn't pay me to go back to this place.

TERRIBLE..
I've had better service at a self-checkout kiosk... or a cemetery.
I was with a party of nine people and we called ahead to place ourselves on a waiting list. We were told to expect about a 45 minute wait - it was Sunday at noon, so that seemed totally reasonable. We arrive about 20 minutes into our expected wait time, only to end up waiting an additional 45 minutes to an hour.
The bar service during this time was terrible. It took about 20 minutes to get one beer, while literally standing at/leaning on the bar.
Once seated - at a table that had actually been open the ENTIRE time we had been waiting - things quickly went from bad to worse. We were seated on a rooftop patio. I will say, the atmosphere was great, but the birds were terrible. The server, 'Katie,' was so incoherent the entire time, we expected her to collapse or lose conciousness in the floor. Thankfully, she never did, although it would not have been surprising if she had while carrying a tray with our food one it, dragging out our God-awful experience even longer.
I asked for water immediately, along with another beer. The alcohol arrived relatively quickly, but the water - after asking for it an additional 3 times - arrived about an hour later, and was never refilled for the duration of our visit. We were told that the kitchen was backed up, so we were prepared to wait, but every possible thing went wrong. The food came out at all different times. Keep in mind, these were mostly brunch dishes, consisiting of things like eggs and grits, that really aren't good once cold, or if they've been sitting out. So, each member of our party was actually eating at different times during this experience.
The diners at the two tables around us had similar issues. One table moved inside due to being crapped on/attacked by birds and the other table called a manager to come over. We only overheard the conversation, but he was not at all apologetic - only very defensive, and consistently made excuses for the terrible service and embarrassing employees, rather than accepting any kind of responsibility and attempting to rectify it. We tried to chime in, and he simply wished us a "nice afternoon" and walked away. After wasting 3 - 4 hours at his restaurant, our afternoon was essentially spent, so no, we were not able to enjoy the rest of the day.
Our gratuity was included and I was so appalled by the extreme rudeness and unprofessionalism, that I (along with everyone at the table) scratched out the included gratuity and included no kind of tip in the final total. If I find that I am charged gratuity, I will have no hesitation in disputing the charge through my bank. IT WAS LITERALLY THAT AWFUL OF AN EXPERIENCE.
I will never go to this restaurant again. I would not go in there to request a glass of water if I were on fire, because I would burn to death long before actually getting it, as is evidenced by this review.

OFF THE CHAIN.
Everything I placed in my mouth was devine, especially the oyster stew. It was perfection, not too thick or too runny, and the oysters weren't dried out. The bacon wrapped scallops, fried asparagus, calamari, spanky's spuds, fried shrimp, and hush puppies were also excellent. The friend that suggested it told me that the food was so good that I would slap my sister (usually mama but I was with my sister) and he was oh so correct. We also topped the meal off with the key lime pie which was true homemade key lime pie. I thought I had died and gone to heaven. Really wish they would open one in Myrtle Beach, SC or more appropriately Murrells Inlet, SC (on the waterfront). We alszo ate at Uncle Bubb's Oyster House while on our trip, although it was good, Bubba ain't got nothing on Tubby!!!!!!!

Great Food, Bad Service.
Tubby's has a great choice of food which tastes great. The price is also very reasonable. We have had wonderful service in the past with some very friendly workers. Our last time was not like the others.
The waitress brought us our drinks in dirty cups. There were yellow food stains dripping down the side of the cups. One of our guests asked for "Sweet tea without lemon" and she brought it with lemon. When he asked that that the drink be replaced, she quickly grabbed the drink up without letting him even finish and stormed away. She came back and slammed the drink on the table. He tasted the drink and saw that it was the same drink, just placed in another glass without the lemon.
Her attitude after that was horrible. We decided to just get up and leave. Some people are not able to serve others. If Tubby's had screened that waitress properly and determined that, they would've gotten 5 stars. I would like to stress that the food is awesome and you may not experience what happened to us, so go ahead and give it a try.
