A lucky find!. Wandering around downtown Savannah, we came upon the Gryphon Room while looking for a place to have lunch near the Shop SCAD store. We waited a little while and were finally seated in a somewhat tight spot, but after the food came, we forgot all about that.

Our party of three had the house salad, French onion soup, and seafood bisque -- all were absolutely amazing.

I also had the the apple, spinach, and cheese quiche, which was perfectly balanced. It was the best meal I had on my week-long vacation.

Great stuff!

Hands down the best place in town. I harp on Savannahs restaurant industry for being tainted by tourism that allows them to serve average food at inflated prices and provide poor service. This is one of the shinning exceptions. Absolutely the best place in town to eat. They have dozens of teas to choose from by the kettle or glass, their salads and sandwiches are amazing and the prices are almost criminal they are so cheap. I recommend trying a glass of Ice Tea, unsweetened, its always interesting. And my favorite dish is the Baby Blue Salad.

Get a seat by the bay window on the right when you walk in, it looks out onto the square. The opposing bay window has great seating as well, looking out on Savannah College of Art and Designs historic Admissions building. Its a very popular place for Baby Showers, Engagement Parties so it can get busy. There are no tables inside, there are a few outside, also there is bar seating.

Only down part, the small round tables they seat two people at can get crowded quickly, especially if youre ordering a kettle of tea and also, I wish they had longer hours and were open Sundays.

Great Place for Tea. A beautiful building with really good food. I had the shrimp salad with a side of frozen fruit salad. Also try the crab cakes, they are some of the best that I have ever had. The ceaser salad with chicken on top is good as well. The tea menu was also very extensive.
