Proceed With Caution.
We went there hearing really good things about this place. Seemed okay, maybe a tourist trap, but we decided on it anyways.
Upon arrival, we were seated promptly and the waitress took our orders, got us drinks, and provided us with really tasty cornbread and biscuits. That was the high point of our meal.
We waited about an hour for our meal to come; not only was it lunch, but it was merely a few sandwiches. When we finally got our food, it was luke-warm, fairly tasteless, and definitely not worth the price. The lettuce and other toppings on the sandwiches were overripe and cheap, the buns were dry, and the meat was either over or under cooked.
Once the service team realized our wait, it was too late. They did a decent job of handling our table after the underwhelming food came, but it was way too late by then; the wait staff appeared to have recognized their error/s, but then attempted to overcompensate and appease our table rather than offer us exemplary apologetic service to conclude the meal. It just got really annoying and we couldn't wait to leave.
All in all, it seems like a cute, niche place to go, and it very well could be, but this is just a warning to those out there looking for good service and/or well-priced and tasty food. Once again, this was just one experience and our opinions are subjective, but it was just too bad not to document...
If you arent up for a laugh, this isnt the place for you. Its everything you would expect from the name. Lots of kids, they play off the pirate theme, food isnt the main focus, but it is a lot of fun for adults too. The menu is what youd expect from a popular tourist destination, over priced and nothing jaw dropping. The service has been great boths times we went, again, only for those that want a bit of interaction. Try the Artillary Punc h for an interesting alcoholic beverage, you get a skull mug with it ;)
Pricey, not recommended for a romantic evening.. My husband and i made it a special point to visit this particular rest. while in Savannah. We were seated promptly however, i could not tell you the quality of the food because shortly after we received our food a group of girl scouts were then seated next to us. It was hard to enjoy my meal with 25 giggling and squealing 10 yr olds in the room with us. I would have moved but we had already been served our meal. Our meal w/ a bottle of wine was well in excess of $100. When i tried to complain to the manager his attitude was hate it for you. If i want to be surrounded by 10 year olds i will eat at McD's for $10 not $100. I would NOT recommend this rest. unless you love the play area at McD's!
Yummy lunch. Went here for lunch during a fun and tiring day of touring Savannah. I am into Pirate stuff, but would never be caught dead in a them restuarant like this. We were hungry and we were standing in front of the Pirates' house, so we went in. They took us into a dark, dungen- like room and I didn't expect too much. As it turns out, the wait staff was super friendly, and the food was awesome! I had the crab cake burger and my boyfriend had the lunch buffet (southern-style food). We had a good time there saying "ARRRR" a lot and the food was great.
not just booty. This place is great. I do not like theme restaurants, as a rule, but it's OK here because it's a real place with an authentic history. The fried chicken was the best I've ever had in a restaurant...by far....it's perfection, and plenty of thighs too....the yams were like dessert....we loved it!
Okay buffet with high price. I was not impressed with the cost of the buffet $16.95. The cost to value ratio is not worth it. The food is not bad, its just not worth $16.95. The buffet at The Mirage in Las Vegas, NV is not that much and you get a much more for your cash. The fact that pirates roamed these walls and tunnels is what people come for. It just so happens they come hungry and see the food; like fried chicken and ribs. Buy the souveniers but not the food. Again, its not bad, but its not very good either. Don't bring your family of 5 for dinner or else expect to pay more than $100 for a buffet!
very nice very nice very nice. Great food, inexpensive, and intriguing atmosphere.... really one of the best places I have ever ate. The buffet is served from 11-6pm, its country style, ribs, chicken, sweet potatoes, seafood, candied pecans, homemade bananna pudding, all was wonderful... and a bit haunted too! Very awesome place to go, I will eat there everytime I visit Savannah.
